I live in a senior citizens community. This means that I live in a gated community just like many other people do around the country, but there are no children here. Almost everybody that lives here is age 60 and above. After noticing how many people I know here don’t treat themselves well, I decided to go to a chiropractor in Corte Madera to talk to him about my concerns for aging. I wanted to know what I could do in order to continue feeling good for the next two decades of my life.
I noticed a continual pattern among many of my friends who are older senior citizens. I noticed that, when people reach their eighties, they start to worry about how their body is no longer functioning as well as they want it to do. They hear about how it’s very important stay fit and keep your body in good shape so that you can live longer. What physical activity is good at any point in life, I also notice it starting so late in life is not as good as starting when you’re younger. I didn’t want to wait another 20 years before I decided to actually take care of myself.
The chiropractor that I went to has worked a lot with senior citizens. I told him that I had not done so well about taking care of myself from my twenties through my fifties, but that I was ready to make physical activity a continuous lifestyle permanently. To show him that I meant it, I brought my exercise diary along with me to my meeting with him. I pointed out that I had been really good about working out for the last six months. He gave me a lot of tips on what I need to do to keep it up. I’m going to go to him every month from now on, to get help and the support that I need to keep going.
